Family awarded $1.35 million after their son suffers severe brain damage due to a delivery full of unnecessary mistakes

A small child has been awarded $1.35 million in a settlement due to permanent and severe brain injuries sustained during birth.

Four years ago a family’s dreams of having a normal child were crushed. They went to their local hospital in labor and began what they thought was a routine birth experience. Several hours passed before their nightmare began.

According to New York Birth Injury Lawyers, the doctor on staff failed to notice the child’s heart rate was rapidly dropping until it was too late. Experts agreed a Cesarean section should have been performed hours before the birth.

Allegedly the child was perfectly healthy when labor began and the complications started several hours into labor.

When the boy was born, the nurses and doctors had to restart his heart and he was brought to the ICU immediately. New York Birth Injury Lawyers said the child has never been normal, has Cerebral Palsy, and has required 24-hour care due to the injuries he suffered from birth.

After the settlement was awarded, the boy’s mother, who is a qualified health therapist, said she would “give all the money back five-fold if I could see him kick a football,” She also said an apology about the matter “would have been nice.” Hospitals in New York City and Long Island must be aware of these problems and solve them before tragedy occurs.

With the settlement money, the family hopes to purchase a home that is specifically built for disabled children like their boy. Doctors in the case and the hospital administration could not be reached for comment.
